2 min read

YEREVAN, Armenia — The American University of Armenia (AUA) Master of Political Science and International Affairs (PSIA) program hosted Mariam Tokhadze, director of the Georgian Center for Strategy and Development (GCSD), for a talk and guest lecture.

On April 18, Tokhadze delivered a public talk titled “Should Georgia Be on Our Minds? A Conversation About the Latest Political Developments in Georgia.” The next day, she guest lectured in the Development Policy and Strategy graduate seminar.

The central theme of both Tokhadze talks encompassed the latest political developments in Georgia, with a focus on the political polarization in the country as well as its path forward to Euro-Atlantic integration. She also spoke about Georgia’s development strategy and the complex NGO landscape focusing on the challenges and complexities of accountability to international donors and the responsibility of local recipients. The discussions were followed by Q&A sessions, during which students and faculty had the opportunity to expand on the topics. In conclusion, Tokhadze noted that she looks forward to returning to Armenia and AUA.

On the occasion of Tokhadze’s visit, PSIA explored the possibility of establishing future collaborative projects with GCSD to create opportunities for AUA students to intern with the organization.

The Political Science and International Affairs (PSIA) program of the American University of Armenia (AUA) equips students with advanced analytical reasoning, critical thinking, and communication skills through the study of political science and international affairs, emphasizing local and global perspectives and practical applications of theory. The program provides world-class teaching and research, producing graduates who can best contribute to the development of the nation.

AUA is pleased to announce the launch of its two new graduate degree programs: Master of Arts in International Relations and Diplomacy (MAIRD) and Master of Public Affairs (MPA) in the College of Humanities and Social Science (CHSS). The two degree programs are set to begin in Fall 2023.
