About the Event:

The American University of Armenia (AUA) Master of Laws (LL.M.) program is pleased to announce a series of workshops covering the fundamentals of intellectual property (IP) theory; the core components of contract drafting; legal management within the prism of inter-jurisdictional case administration, analysis, and case study; as well as practical exercises on negotiating and auditing legal risks. The workshops draw from various legal cases, considering best practices for the protection of company technological and digital components within the IP system. This series is specifically designed to meet lawyers, IT, and engineering specialists’ daily demands as well as respond to entrepreneurs’ interest in protecting and organizing secure IP management.

The content of each workshop will cover the widest prism of all the significant components that include the basis of theoretical knowledge and practical skills in focus of real legal issues.

The workshops in the sequence are the following:

About the Speaker:

Vazgen Zakharyan is a lawyer and artificial intelligence (AI) law researcher. He is the author of projects for the promotion of cultural heritage protection, the popularization of art, and the elaboration of legal mechanisms for intellectual property protection. He is the coordinator and head researcher of particular projects for studying legal aspects in the field of IP innovative development. 

Zakharyan received a dual bachelor’s degree in law (Armenia) and master’s degree in international relations (Switzerland). He completed the Patent Law and Global Public Health course offered by Harvard Law School / WIPO Academy and currently is a postgraduate researcher in law (UK). As part of his ongoing Ph.D. studies, he is researching AI and associated legal developments and their innovative issues. Previously, he researched IP issues in developing countries and conducted IP analysis at the national and regional levels.

In addition to his legal education, Zakharyan is keen on the arts and cultural project management. He is an author of books and publications dedicated to Armenian fine art and copyright regulations. He is a guest in media programs and has presented at various conferences on urgent legal and IP-related issues.
