Third Mock Arbitration Competition Held at AUA

YEREVAN, Armenia – From March 21-22, 2015, the American University of Armenia (AUA) held the Third Mock Arbitration Competition, featuring law students from various universities around Armenia. The competition was organized by the Mediation and Arbitration Clinic of AUA’s Master of Laws program, which was founded as a result of cooperation between the AUA Legal Resource Center and ADR Partners.

Nine teams from eight universities took part in the competition, including Yerevan State University, the National Academy of Sciences, Russian-Armenian (Slavonic) University, “Mants” University, the French University in Armenia, the European Regional Educational Academy, Eurasia International University, and the Institute of Forensic Science and Psychology.

Participating arbitrators were representatives from commercial arbitration at the Chamber of Commerce of the Republic of Armenia, financial arbitration at the Union of Banks of Armenia, the Office of Financial Ombudsman of Armenia, judges, lawyers, and professors from different universities of Armenia, and professionals of private international law.

Finalists were the teams from Yerevan State University and the French University in Armenia, with Yerevan State University securing the final winning spot. The ‘Best Written Work’ award went to the French University team, while the ‘Best Speaker’ award went to Shushanik Ghukasyan from Yerevan State University.
