YEREVAN, Armenia – On February 27, 2015, the American University of Armenia (AUA) College of Science and Engineering (CSE) launched its first annual Programming Olympiad in which thirteen students with background knowledge of C++ and Java competed to solve algorithmic problems. The competition was open to students from various schools.

Two sophomores in AUA’s Computational Sciences program, Levon Stepanyan and Sipan Muradyan, achieved the highest scores in their competitive field.

The event was met with excitement by both students and faculty who helped in its organization, with even greater participation and success expected in future years.  Plans include the additional involvement of high school students as part of the CSE’s outreach efforts into the community at large.
