TBILISI, Georgia – On Oct 29, 2014, the American University of Armenia (AUA)’s Director of Accreditation & Assessment Sharistan Melkonian and Associate Dean for General Education Catherine Buon participated in the TEMPUS Annual Coordination Meeting hosted by Caucasus University in Tbilisi, Georgia.

The meeting was organized as part of the Tempus project Promoting Quality and Recognition of Transnational Education in Armenia and Georgia (TNE_QA), which brings together 18 partner institutions from six countries to build capacity within Armenian and Georgian higher education institutions and external quality assurance agencies to manage quality assurance of transnational education by establishing mechanisms in line with OECD/UNESCO guidelines.

The one-day meeting focused on reporting about the partners’ gap analysis in regards to the European Association for Quality Assurance (ENQA) and UNESCO/OECD standards for transnational education.  The meeting also concentrated on planning the project’s next steps for understanding the role of educational quality assurance, designing approaches to quality assurance, and building a common understanding of core elements of quality assurance.

In addition to AUA’s participation in the meeting, Melkonian and Buon gave a presentation on AUA’s Gap Analysis Report, which described how AUA meets the ENQA and UNESCO/OECD standards for transnational education.
