“32 Days on the Road: Our Journey to Santiago de Compostela and Beyond” Lecture by Dr. Haroutune Armenian

October 4, 2017 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm +04

AUA Armenian Digital Library will host a lecture on “32 Days on the Road: Our Journey to Santiago de Compostela and Beyond”, presented by Dr. Haroutune Armenian.

Armenian pilgrims have made the journey to Santiago (St. Hagop – St. James) de Compostela in Spain since the eleventh century. Today the Camino de Santiago is one of the most popular journeys people make from all over the world. Over 260,000 did this journey in 2015. There are a number of routes that lead to Santiago de Compostela.

In June-July 2016, Sona and Harout Armenian walked the most popular route: the French Way. It begins in Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port in France, passes through Pamplona, Logroño, Burgos, Leon, and Astoria and ends after 790 kms in Santiago. The journey provides an opportunity for experiencing physical endurance and spiritual rejuvenation. The presentation will be illustrated with slides of pictures, quotes and watercolor paintings from the road.
