Garabed Kapikian: The Untold Story of Heroic Intellectual Work

About the Event:
Dr. Sukiasyan’s talk will examine the life and work of Garabed Kapikian, an Armenian intellectual from Sivas/Sepastia province of the Ottoman Empire. The first part of the talk will be dedicated to exploring Kapikian’s education, early political activism, and imprisonment, continued by his scholarly achievements and contributions to the fields of history, botany, folklore, linguistics, and lexicography. The second part of the talk will focus on Kapikian’s experiences during the Armenian Genocide as an eyewitness, as well as his subsequent research on the deportations.
