Artur Dovlatyan (MSCIS ‘22): Shaping the World With Technology

As we live in a digital age, most industries rely on software programs. Computer science and IT impact our lives and everything we do, from scientific research to health development, transportation, banking, communications, you name it. Even household objects like microwave ovens, fridges, or door locks are now connected to our Wi-Fi networks and personal assistants.

Technology has made the world better, faster, and more connected. But this didn’t happen by magic. We arrived here thanks to the brilliant minds of IT specialists, who followed their passion for technology and used it to create gadgets and computer programs that help us every single day.

With a degree in computer science from AUA, one can learn all the concepts and skills needed to make a change. Technology is part of our future, and it is up to us to decide how it will impact and shape our world.

I recently had the chance to represent AUA at the State Educational Awards in the field of IT and won “The Best Master’s Degree Student Award” as a student of AUA’s Computer and Information Science program. I’m very happy that I was able to successfully utilize all the knowledge that my AUA professors have given me.

During my master’s program at AUA, I acquired skills and techniques to be a competitive software engineer in today’s market. Through AUA I understood what it means to be a software engineer and that there is a solution to each and every problem. With the acquired skills I am able to do research on various topics even if I do not have a background in them or easily find work in today’s competitive market. Recently, I was hired by Synopsys Armenia, and I’m very excited to join their team as the next step in my career.

My journey at AUA taught me that one doesn’t need to be the next Bill Gates or Steve Jobs. One can easily be successful in one’s career without reaching fame and still do work that will influence the lives of millions or even billions of people. Through my studies, I gained the will and tools to help improve other people’s lives.  I would call my career a success as long as another person can derive a benefit from it.
