OIRA Releases 2023 “3-Month After Graduation Survey”

YEREVAN, Armenia The most recent “3-Month After Graduation Survey” conducted by the American University of Armenia’s (AUA) Office of Institutional Research and Assessments (OIRA) found that 83% of undergraduate and 90% of graduate alumni from the Class of 2023 report they are either employed or engaged in further education.

The graduate results represent a 43% reduction in the number of graduate alumni who are neither employed nor engaged in further education since the 2018 survey. 90% reported being employed (including self-employment), while 7% applied for further studies. Meanwhile, the undergraduate alumni employment and continued education figures have remained relatively consistent since 2018, hovering between 80% and 83%. 70% of 2023 undergraduate alumni respondents reported being employed, and 37% reported applying for further education.

The top industries in which responding alumni are employed are consistent between undergraduates and graduates: the information and communication industries (19% undergraduates, 21% graduates) and real estate or banking, financial, and insurance activities (13% undergraduates,17% graduates).

Notably, 100% of respondents from the CTEFL, ECM, MBA, MEIESM, MPH, and MSE programs are currently employed or engaged in further education. The number of undergraduate alumni who have applied for further studies has shot up from 31% in 2018 to 37% in 2023.

“The post-graduation survey conducted three months after our alumni leave the University serves as a crucial tool for understanding their journeys in terms of employment and further education,” said OIRA Director Parandzem Sargsyan. “It not only provides valuable insights into their success, but also underscores the enduring value our institution offers. Additionally, it enables us to stay connected with our alumni, based on their consent, thereby fostering continued engagement with the University. Collecting such data from alumni also encourages data-driven decision-making at the University, thus ensuring continuous improvement based on empirical insights.”
