Importance of learning IHL

International Humanitarian Law (IHL) is one of the most developed and still developing branches of public international law created of a set of treaty rules which seek, for humanitarian reasons, to limit the negative effects of armed conflict. It protects persons who are not or are no longer participating in hostilities and restricts the means and methods of warfare. Knowledge of IHL is an essential asset for those working on or in countries affected by armed conflict, interested in working for international humanitarian organizations or other related fields.
