On September 6, the American University of Armenia (AUA) Political Science and International Affairs (PSIA) program hosted Eric Hacopian, a California-based political consultant, for a seminar comparing and contrasting the crisis in democratic governance in Armenia with the current political events in the United States and Western Europe.
Kristina Akopyan (MPH ’13), alumna of the American University of Armenia (AUA) Gerald and Patricia Turpanjian School of Public Health (SPH), has been awarded a scholarship to conduct a research project that aims to facilitate automatization of characteristics measurement in liver imaging in two-point Dixon and Multi-echo Dixon MRI sequencing techniques.

The American University of Armenia (AUA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Vahe Khachadourian as Assistant Professor at the Gerald & Patricia Turpanjian School of Public Health (SPH).
[mediamax.am] Zoya Barseghyan graduated from the Public Administration Academy of Armenia with the master’s degree in political science. She is currently on a master’s course at the American University of Armenia.
On September 8th, the American University of Armenia (AUA) hosted several members from the American Chamber of Commerce in Armenia (AmCham) for a site visit and meet-and-greet with AUA leadership. The event was part of AmCham’s “Be My Guest” series, which gives members a chance to familiarize themselves with various organizations throughout the country.
On September 9th, an official delegation from Pasadena, California, led by City of Pasadena Mayor Terry Tornek, Pasadena City Councilmember and Vice Mayor John J. Kennedy, and several accompanying officials visited the American University of Armenia (AUA) for a tour of the campus and informal meeting with students.
UK-based Mining Law and Institutional Capacity Expert to Support Analysis of Armenia’s Legislative and Institutional Framework of Mining IndustrySeptember 8, 2017
On September 4th and 5th, Mr. Christopher H. Nurse, a British mining law expert, met with members of Armenia’s Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) Secretariat and Multi-Stakeholder Group (MSG), which comprises government, industry, and civil society representatives.
In August 2017, American University of Armenia (AUA) Extension initiated an alumni reward program that grants all graduates of the Extension program a 10% discount for future enrollments into any of the AUA Extension courses; all AUA alumni also receive a 10% discount on Extension courses.
On August 31, a high-level delegation from the Republic of Iraq headed by the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Researches, visited the American University of Armenia (AUA). The delegation was comprised of high rank officials from the Ministry, department heads and rectors from Universities in Iraq, as well as representatives from the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Armenia and RA Ministry of Education and Science.
From August 28 to 31, a UK-based natural resource governance expert, Mr. Jeremy Weate, will visit Armenia to advise the Armenian government, industry, and civil society on what to include in the country’s first Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) report to be published in 2018.
