image001YEREVAN, Armenia – Hasmik Galstyan, head of reference and circulation services at the American University of Armenia (AUA)’s AGBU Papazian Library and EIFL-IP (Electronic Information for Libraries) Coordinator in Armenia, was recently featured by EIFL in honor of World Book and Copyright Day and World Intellectual Property Day.

Galstyan shared, “Libraries provide many modern services such as Virtual Learning Environments (VLEs), inter-library document supply and digitization, and accessible format materials for visually impaired people. We need modern copyright laws that support our services, and local copyright officials who work closely with librarians to ensure that our voices are heard. We need copyright laws that do not act as barriers, or that prevent libraries from remaining true to their mission to provide access to knowledge for all.”

The AGBU Papazian Library at the American University of Armenia is a modern, state-of-the-art research facility that serves over 12,000 patrons throughout the Republic of Armenia. The library is home to over 42,000 volumes of books and over 65,000 online journals and is equipped with individual study carrels, group study rooms, 35 computer workstations, and both wired and wireless internet access.
