Research Seminar Series #5: Skills demand analysis based on the data from online HR websites: Using web scraping and text mining applications

The goal of the research project is to use online job advertisements to assess the skills demand in Armenian job market. The research will also cover the dynamics of change in the demand from different industries and for specific skills. The demand will be decomposed by year, industry, company type. The auxiliary goal of the study is to give HR managers and HR portals information on how the typical job post is composed, what are the most frequent sectors of job post.
Vahe Movsisyan, who recently joined to the Economic Research Department at the Central Bank of Armenia, and Habet Madoyan, Co-Founder and CEO of Datamotus, a company that provides data mining and statistical analysis services, will hold a seminar on “Skill Demand Analysis Based on Data from Online HR websites: Using Web Scraping and Text Mining Applications.” The goal of the research project is to use online job advertisements to assess skill demands in the Armenian job market. The research will also cover the dynamics of change in the demand from different industries and for specific skills. The demand will be analyzed by year, industry, and company type. The auxiliary goal of the study is to give HR managers and HR portals information on how the typical job post is composed and what are the most frequent sectors of job posts.
Movsisyan teaches Applied Statistics at the American University of Armenia (AUA). Habet Madoyan teaches Applied Statistics and Introduction to Data Mining at AUA.
