AUA Extension Course: Procurement and Contract Management

Course Description:

This training course is designed for professionals involved or interested in procurement and contract management.  The course covers the latest skills for managing the procurement cycle; complying with the newest procurement requirements and regulations; using the most appropriate procurement method and contract type; drafting RFIs, RFQs and RFPs; analyzing costs to ensure best value for your organization; monitoring contractor performance; and overall enhancement of your professional skills in this important business responsibility. Logistics, transportation and safe delivery topics are also covered. Issues related to modern procurement challenges such as e-Procurement, Green Procurement, Sustainment Procurement to be covered. The intended audience includes procurement specialists, project managers, and quality assurance specialists.

Course Objectives:

  • To understand the principles and techniques of the procurement process
  • To learn about the peculiarities of the Armenian market and Law on Procurement (January 1, 2011)
  • To interpret supplier quotes/proposals; statements of work; types of contracts
  • To prepare requests for proposals; bidding/tender documents
  • To acquire negotiating techniques;
  • To learn the code of ethics in procurement
  • To learn how to conduct risk assessment; tax implications; conflict management and dispute resolution
  • To understand international trade, INCOTERMS; Customs issues; Logistics
  • To have a grasp of procurement cycle modeling
  • To learn how to acquire best practices for working with implementing partners, suppliers, and customers

Duration: 20 hours, 10 sessions

Fee: AMD75,000

Schedule: Mon, Wed, Fri 18:30-20:30, Sat 11:00 – 14:00

 

About the instructor:

Hakob Mnatsakanyan holds a M.Sc. degree in Economics & Management, EU Mediterranean Agronomic Institute branch located in Greece and a B.Sc. in Economics & finance from the Athens University of Economics & Business. Currently he is working as Subcontractors/Procurement/Logistics Manager at “Parsons Government Services International Armenian Branch” (www.parsons.com). Hakob has extensive experience in all aspects of procurement and contract management. Mr. Mnatsakanyan is also trained by Ernst & Young in Internal Control and Procurement Contract Management.

Enrollment:
To enroll you can either (1) come to the AUA Extension Office to complete your application, (2) e-mail your completed application, or bring your completed application to us. The applicable enrollment fee is payable, in cash, at AUA Cashier’s Office, main building, 5th floor, Room 59. The cashier’s Office is open from 10:00 to 16:00, Monday to Friday. The filled in application form together with the payment receipt completes your enrollment.
