The class became the first group to join the AUA Pillars, who pledge to support the University through unrestricted giving that allows AUA to further support its students.
“The pillars not only saw how great Armenia is, but also witnessed the strong role of AUA and the results of the university’s mission and work,” said Professor Areshian.
In 2015, Dr. Mirzayan met Dr. Armen Der Kiureghian, the President of AUA, and immediately realized that AUA was the best avenue in helping educate Armenia’s youth.
The highlight of the event was a 90-minute panel discussion moderated by Dr. Shakeh Kaftarian, who chaired the Empowerment of Girls and Women in Armenia conference at AUA in April 2017.
In April of 2015, on the centennial of the Armenian Genocide, Ara and Laura Dirtadian made a pledge to honor their grandfathers by establishing the Elia Kahvedjian & Arakel Dirtadian Scholarship at AUA.
