About the Event:
We are delighted to invite you to a lecture titled “Consciousness and the Brain: Unresolved Mysteries,” featuring a distinguished guest, Dr. Georg Northoff, philosopher, neuroscientist, and psychiatrist from the University of Ottawa, Canada.
Dr. Northoff will delve into the unresolved mysteries of the brain by exploring its unique structure and the mechanisms behind consciousness. He will also discuss whether artificial intelligence, like robots, can possess a conscious mind.
Before the lecture, we encourage you to watch Dr. Northoff’s “Do Robots and Artificial Intelligence Have Consciousness? A View from the Brain” online seminar from last year, accessible here.

About the Speaker:
Dr. Georg Northoff is a philosopher, neuroscientist, and psychiatrist, holding degrees in all three
disciplines. Originally from Germany, Dr. Northoff is now working in Ottawa/Canada, where he is studying the relationship between the brain and the mind in its various facets. The central question is: why and how can our brain construct subjective phenomena like self, consciousness, and emotions?
Dr. Northoff is the author of various books, including his most recent Neurowaves — Brain, Time and Consciousness.
