The American University of Armenia (AUA) Digital Library of Classical Armenian Literature (Digilib) is pleased to announce the completion of the digitization of the published works of Hagop Oshagan, one of the giants of Western Armenian Literature. With the support of the Armenian Communities Department of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, thirty-three works of the author are now available online and accessible for free to all interested readers on the Digilib website

The digitized material includes the monumental ten-volume Panorama of Western Armenian Literature, The Humble Ones, Remnants, as well as fictional works and works of literary criticism. The prized collection of these writings by Hagop Oshagan is available on the Digilib online platform in a searchable format.

“About 11,500 book pages or about 21,000,000 characters have been digitized, which equates to about 12,000 A4 pages. Moreover, the Frequency Dictionary and the Concordance, created based on the digitized works of Hagop Oshagan, will soon be available on our platform thus promoting the study of Hagop Oshagan’s legacy with the help of digital tools.” Meruzhan Karapetyan, the academic director of Digilib, elaborates on the immense work done by them. “Digilib is grateful to the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation’s Armenian Communities Department for recognizing the importance of this project and for their support.”

Digilib has been providing professional and innovative technological services to the academic and educational institutions of Armenia and the Diaspora since 1999, by fostering direct interaction with the written heritage of Armenian culture and its research.

Founded in 1991, the American University of Armenia (AUA) is a private, independent university located in Yerevan, Armenia, affiliated with the University of California, and accredited by the WASC Senior College and University Commission in the United States.
