Closer Look at the Syrian Conflict”. The first part of this event will be via Skype followed by a film screening of “Thank You Ladies & Gentlemen”.
Introductory remarks by guest speaker Harout Ekmanian
Film Background: Director Nigol Bezjian highlights the struggles and brave resilience of a group of Syrian refugees who have escaped to Lebanon. Leaving everything behind, the community faces daily challenges to make ends meet and find some sort of security. Bezjian’s artistic vision allows for their stories to be told through song and poetry.

Harout Ekmanian is a journalist and producer at the Civilitas Foundation in Yerevan. He writes regularly for English, Armenian and Arabic journals and daily newspapers across the Middle East, in addition to working for development projects and advocacy groups dealing with conflict resolution, rule of law, cultural heritage, and diaspora issues. He studied law at the University of Aleppo and is fluent in Armenian, Arabic, English, Turkish, and French. He contributes regularly to the Armenian Weekly.
