Public Lecture Series on Machine Learning
April 6, 2016 @ 4:30 pm - 6:30 pm +04
The course on Machine Learning constitutes a public lecture series organized by the American University of Armenia (AUA) College of Sciences & Engineering, led by Arnak Dalalyan. The aim of the series is to design automatic methods for obtaining information from data. It constitutes the basis for artificial intelligence and is successfully applied in various fields including biology, medicine, finance, economics, image and signal processing, information theory, and meteorology.
This course provides an introduction to some fundamental topics of machine learning. In addition, probabilistic-theoretical, algorithmic and empirical will also be presented with various applications. The prerequisites for the course are a basic course in probability theory, and a course in linear algebra.
The following will be covered during the lectures:
- Lecture 1 (unsupervised learning)
- Lecture 2 (theoretical foundations of supervised learning)
- Lecture 3 (algorithms of supervised learning)
- Lecture 4 (supervised learning and convexification)
Arnak Dalalyan earned his bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Yerevan State University in 1997. He continued his studies in 2001 at the University of Maine, in France where he earned his PhD in Statistics. Currently, Mr. Dalalyan is a Professor of Statistics and Machine Learning at the École Nationale de la Statistique et de l’Administration Économique (ENSAE ParisTech) in France. ENSAE is one of the leading French institutions of higher learning in the fields of statistics, economics, finance and actuarial science.
