AUA Acopian Center Hosts First Public Event for “Green Economy Training for Armenia” Project

YEREVAN, Armenia On September 15, the American University of Armenia (AUA) Acopian Center for the Environment organized a training event within the framework of the “Green Economy online training for Armenia” project. The event aimed to familiarize participants with the basic concepts of inclusive green economy, primarily introducing the online learning platform the AUA Acopian Center has developed for the “Introduction to Green Economy” course. 

The participants included representatives from government, civil society, academia, and private businesses interested in the green economy agenda. 

The event opened with remarks by Alen Amirkhanian, director of the AUA Acopian Center. He emphasized the pivotal role of the Green Economy concept in fostering sustainability and creating new economic growth opportunities. The project manager, Aghavni Harutyunyan, then introduced the “Green Economy online training for Armenia” project, including its objectives and main activities. She also presented the technical aspects of the online learning platform, providing details about its overall structure.

The main component of the event was led by Green Economy expert Astghine Pasoyan, who expounded on the content of the online training modules. She highlighted the importance of making a fundamental shift toward responsible and equitable economic growth, embracing renewable resources, reducing pollution, and promoting social wellbeing.
