< 1 min read

YEREVAN, Armenia –  On July 14, 2016 AUA Center for Responsible Mining welcomed Dr. Gavin Mudd, professor and head of Environmental Engineering at Monash University in Melbourne, Australia, who delivered a talk on recent research in environmental and social impacts of mining.  Dr. Mudd argued that we have adequate supplies of many minerals to meet the needs of the world economy for at least a century. The main challenge, however, remains the rising environmental and social impact of mining, which require increased attention and sophistication to address. The video recording and PowerPoint of Dr. Mudd’s presentation are available here.

The American University of Armenia Center for Responsible Mining (AUA CRM) promotes the creation as well as transfer and adoption in Armenia of best practices in socially, environmentally, and economically responsible mining. AUA CRM works with companies, civil society, and the public sector to achieve this goal.
