The crisis in Ukraine has fundamentally altered the world order. The tragic results already include both military and civilian casualties, property loss and destruction, and a mounting refugee crisis. It is unclear when and how a cessation of hostilities will be achieved. For those enterprises that have or had ongoing business arrangements and investments in Russia, now is the time to assess and fully understand risks entailed – whether electing to stay in Russia, to withdraw, or to curtail operations. A variety of disputes are likely to arise whatever business decision is made.

About the Speakers: 

Sargis Grigoryan, as an Armenian-qualified and Russian-speaking lawyer who has represented clients in nearly 50 arbitrations under ICSID, ICC, LCIA and UNCITRAL rules, including investment treaty disputes. He also frequently advises clients in court proceedings and has extensive experience in matters involving enforcement of arbitral awards in the CIS. His particular expertise has been in energy-related disputes, involving parties from the CIS, and on shareholders’ disputes. Mr. Grigoryan has extensive experience presenting evidence in foreign courts and arbitral proceedings as an Armenian law expert. He has been consistently recognized in Chamber & Partners.
