The Use of Virtual Reality and Other Emerging Technologies in Humanitarian Assistance

About the Event:

This roundtable discussion, which includes participants from the nonprofit sector and newsroom leaders, will focus on the use of emerging technologies by organizations that provide assistance to those affected by crises and disasters with the goal of saving lives, alleviating suffering, and maintaining human dignity. The discussion will examine best practices emerging in the United States and will generate ideas regarding the effective and ethical use of such technologies.

About the Speaker:

Dr. Bimbisar Irom is an assistant professor in the Department of Journalism and Media Production at Washington State University. He conducts research in the area of humanitarian communication with a particular focus on forced migration.
