About the Event: 

“Trust in Expertise in a Changing Media Landscape” multidisciplinary conference will bring together outstanding researchers from all over the world to discuss how best to assess, establish and maintain the credibility and trustworthiness of expertise in a rapidly changing media environment. Scholars will present their latest findings on questions of trust and trustworthiness, expertise, science and technology, policy, and the media, touching on a wide range of topics such as the pandemic, climate change, conspiracy theories, social media platforms, among other things.

The conference is organized within the “PERiTiA – Policy, Expertise, and Trust in Action” project funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 870883. The American University of Armenia (AUA) is a partner in this project.

About the Speakers: 

AUA faculty member and PERiTiA Project Researcher Dr. Arshak Balayan will be giving a talk during the second Parallel Panel Sessions (March 18, 6pm –  7:30pm, AMT).

Dr. Arshak Balayan is an adjunct lecturer at AUA who specializes in ethics and epistemology. He received his doctorate from the Yerevan State University (YSU) in 2009. Before joining AUA, he was teaching at YSU. He also was a visiting scholar at Harvard University for three consecutive spring semesters. Dr. Balayan is the author of the manual of philosophy for university students in Armenia. He is also the author of an online lecture series on introduction to ethics.
