Solutions Journalism: New Paradigms for Storytelling

About the Event:

What if a story could do more than tell us what went wrong?

Join us for Solutions Journalism: New Paradigms for Storytelling, a training session with Dr. Shawn McIntosh, assistant professor, Master of Arts in Multiplatform Journalism (MAMJ) program chair, and director of the Center for Excellence in Journalism.

Discover how Solutions Journalism can help journalists move beyond simply reporting what is wrong and explore how people and communities are responding to real-world challenges.

The session will introduce key principles of this approach and offer practical ideas for applying them to your own stories.

About the Speaker:

Dr. Shawn McIntosh is an assistant professor and the program chair of MAMJ at AUA. He taught digital media and journalism courses and was student media advisor for the student-run newspapers and television studios at The College of Saint Rose in Albany, New York, and the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) in Massachusetts. He taught strategic communications, media ethics, and digital media in the strategic communications master’s program at Columbia University’s School of Professional Studies for several years. Dr. McIntosh worked as a journalist and editor in London and then Tokyo for nearly a decade, writing for newspapers and magazines in the UK, Japan, and the United States.
