Public Lecture on Social Trust and the Role of Government

About the Event:

The public lecture delivered by Professor Jonathan Wolff will take place at Yerevan State University Faculty of Philosophy, on April 20. 

Professor Wolff’s lecture will cover topics in social theory and ethics in public affairs drawing on his extensive research in these fields.

 

About the Speakers:

Jonathan Wolff is a fellow of the British Academy and a professor emeritus of philosophy and public policy at the University of Oxford. He is a former senior research fellow in philosophy and public policy at Oxford, and a supernumerary fellow at Wolfson College. Prior to joining Oxford, he served as a professor of philosophy and the dean of Arts and Humanities at UCL. He is a political philosopher who works on questions of inequality, disadvantage, and social justice. He is the author of the book City of Equals (OUP 2024), co-authored with Avner de-Shalit.

His work has covered public safety, disability, gambling, and the regulation of recreational drugs. His recent work discusses social equality, poverty, and social exclusion, as well as methodology in political philosophy.
