About the Event:
The AUA Acopian Center for the Environment is pleased to invite you to a roundtable discussion on “Pathways Toward Dumpsite Closure in Armenia,” which is organized within the framework of the Sweden-funded “Waste Policy Armenia” program.
The purpose of the event is to open a practical dialogue on how Armenia can take phased, effective, and financially feasible steps toward closing non-sanitary dumpsites and transition toward modern waste-management systems.
The discussion will bring together representatives from municipalities, government institutions, experts, civil society, the private sector, and the media.
Key discussion topics include:
- The current status and mapping of dumpsites in Armenia, with a focus on several case examples
- Practical and cost-effective closure solutions informed by international experience and field observations
- Lessons learned from Armenia’s first sanitary landfill initiatives
- Possible policy, technical, and financial pathways for phased site rehabilitation and post-closure management
