Health Informatics: Systems and Tools

About the Event:

“Health Informatics: Systems and Tools” is the third installment in the initiative seminar series on health informatics. We will discuss systems and tools in the realm of health informatics and address challenges to their application in Armenia. Topics include medical record systems, along with their associated ontology (medical concept vocabulary); interoperability with other systems; and sharing patient records. We will also discuss some examples of applications of AI, machine learning, and data science to enhance health informatics knowledge acquisition. Finally, we will provide a path to utilizing pre-developed analytical tools for application to patient care and knowledge discovery.

About the Speaker:

Dr. Barry Levine is Professor Emeritus of Computer Science at San Francisco State University (SFSU). His interests currently focus on e-health/health Informatics and has led numerous global and graduate student projects in that area. In 2001 he created the CIS Program at American University of Armenia. He served as director of the program for 10 years. Other projects included serving as a lead for the African Virtual University World Bank project, as well as department Chair for the CS Department at SFSU.
