Estimating the Economic Impact of Natural Protected Areas: Methods and Cases

About the Event:
The AUA Acopian Center for the Environment together with Master of Science in Economics (MSE) Program of the AUA Manoogian Simone College of Business and Economics (CBE) co-organize a technical talk for economists on estimating the economic impact of natural protected areas.
About the Speaker:
Dr. Thiago Beraldo Souza is a member of World Commission of Protected Areas – WCPA/IUCN. He works for the Chico Mendes Institute for Biodiversity Conservation (ICMBio), a government agency responsible for the federal protected areas of Brazil since 2002. In 2016 he earned his PhD in Interdisciplinary Ecology with a focus on tourism and recreation management at the University of Florida, USA. His objective is to understand the relationship between supply, demand, and economic benefits of recreation in protected areas.
