Environmental Futures: Public Talk by Aroussiak Gabrielian

About the Event:
Working across scales — from environmental design to biological materials — Dr. Aroussiak Gabrielian will share the climate-focused project that she along with her team of design-research students have been advancing in the Landscape Futures Lab at the University of Southern California (USC). With the current state of crisis of the biophysical world around us, Dr. Gabrielian’s talk will address questions, such as how to implement design and material innovation toward more regenerative and resilient future.

About the Speaker:
Aroussiak Gabrielian, Ph.D, is a trained architect, landscape architect, media artist, and futurist. She holds several positions at USC, such as assistant professor of landscape architecture and urbanism at the School of Architecture; affiliate faculty of media arts and practice at the School of Cinematic Arts; and the director of the Landscape Futures Lab. Beyond academia, Dr. Gabrielian is the founding design director at Foreground Design Agency, an award-winning multidisciplinary design practice based in Los Angeles. Prior to initiating her practice, Dr. Gabrielian worked at Snohetta in New York City on various architectural and landscape-architectural projects, including the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art expansion and the Guadalajara Museum of Environmental Science. Her projects has been recognized through numerous design awards, publications, and exhibits.
