Commercial Litigation in the CIS Region

About the Event:
The speech will address the tactical considerations arising in cross-border commercial litigation in the CIS region. The international conventions applicable in the CIS region are poorly drafted and are not up to date. It would not be an overstatement that litigants can use the imperfections in the design of international conventions to derail proceedings in another CIS State. The speech will seek to draw attention of litigants to the risks associated with litigating in the CIS region.
About the Speaker:
Dr. Hayk Kupelyants is a Lecturer at the University of Cambridge. He is the author of ‘Sovereign Defaults before Domestic Courts’ (OUP, 2018). He previously practiced in the London office of an international law firm.
