The Geiger counter will be instrumented with an Arduino\, which will perform the initial data analysis and allow the\ntransfer of data to a computer. In the end\, students will get to keep their DIY Geiger counters\, which they will then use to measure radiation in their immediate environment!\nuse their Geiger counter to perform experiments involving radiation\, where they will measure gamma counts and observe the effects of shielding on radiation.\n\nStudents should have: \n\nBasic knowledge of statistics and probability;\nBasics of physics;\nBasic knowledge of electrical circuits (e.g. transistors\, capacitors\, resistors);\nSome coding and data analysis skills. Familiarity with Python and the command line is a plus;\nProficiency in English.\n\nAbout the Speaker: \nMIT Professor Areg Danagoulian \nLanguage: English URL:https://newsroom.aua.am/event/aua-mit-nuclear-detection-course/ LOCATION:Room 314W\, Paramaz Avedisian Building\, American University of Armenia\, 40 Marshal Baghramyan Ave\, Yerevan\, 0019 CATEGORIES:Events Calendar,Science & Engineering ATTACH;FMTTYPE=image/jpeg:https://newsroom.aua.am/files/2022/06/CSE_MIT_COURSE_BANNER-01.jpg ORGANIZER;CN="Akian College of Science and Engineering (CSE)":MAILTO:info@aua.am, cse@aua.am END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
