Achieving Decentralized Control in the Time and the Frequency Domains

About the Event:
A control design based on sensitivity considerations has been shown to be efficient both in the time and frequency domains. The SISO result has been successfully tested on a levitation system. An extension to the MIMO case has also been developed which simultaneously achieves decentralized control, i.e. decoupling of the interaction of the closed loop of a multi-variable system while using local (diagonal) controllers. The result is a quasi-diagonal closed loop transmission on a given frequency band, as well as closed loop diagonal output fast time responses. Practical implementation of the algorithm and extensions will be discussed.
