Shakespeare, Power, and Politics on Modern Stage

About the Event:
Scholars, students, theatre practitioners, and the general public are welcome to join Fourth International Shakespeare Conference in Yerevan. The opening ceremony will feature award-winning actor-director Aram Hovhannisyan and director Suren Shahverdyan. The honorary guest is world-famous director and artistic director of Rustaveli Theatre Robert Sturua, who has staged over 22 Shakespearean plays across the world. The welcome speech will be delivered by representatives from AUA, the British Embassy, and ASA. The conference seminars will feature various international speakers. The closing event is dedicated to Shakespearean translator Samvel Mkrtchyan. The events will conclude with the latest production of Shakespeare’s Hamlet by Yerevan Chamber Theatre (YCT), followed by a Q&A with foreign scholars, ASA actors, and directors at YCT.
