First-Ever ‘Health Technology Networking’ Reception a Success

YEREVAN, Armenia – On November 5, the Zaven and Sonia Akian College of Science and Engineering, Data Science program of the American University of Armenia (AUA) hosted the Health Technology Networking, the first ever bioinformatics networking event in Armenia. The occasion served as a platform for mapping the overall state of the industry and adopting collective goals to enhance bioinformatics in Armenia and beyond. The discourse addressed ways of establishing continuous collaboration with entities from various sectors, organizing presentations, master classes, capstone discussions, internships, training courses, and lectures. Also in line with common efforts were site visits to various organizations, including the Institute of Molecular Biology, NoyMed LLC, as well as others. With the creation of sustained dialogue and preparation of a fertile soil to that effect, many future shared accomplishments and success are likely to result. 

“It was inspiring to feel the synergistic energy at the event. The health-tech community of students, start-up entrepreneurs, academicians, data scientists, and others interacting to generate multidisciplinary solutions in the field of health care.  AUA embraces its position as a nexus of collaborative and innovative activity, in this case where science and technology tackle health care’s toughest challenges,” commented Dean Aram Hajian.

The event brought together established companies in healthcare, startups in innovative health technology solutions, biomedical researchers, AUA Open Centers of Excellence, faculty members and students from the different programs of the University, as well as representatives from both government and academia. 

“Collaboration is so important and at today’s event, we saw new bonds being formed across the healthcare ecosystem considering both research capacity as well as academic and pedagogical advancement. In this way, we are progressing towards a science-based economy that can lead to increases in quality of life while fostering global relationships,” mentioned Professor Armen Kherlopian.

The event generated a joint networking platform for learning about and sharing cutting-edge advances in the field.
