AUA and NoyMed Sign a Memorandum of Understanding

YEREVAN, Armenia — On November 1, 2021, the American University of Armenia (AUA) and NoyMed LLC signed a Memorandum of Understanding to establish cooperation between the two parties. NoyMed is a contract research organization (CRO) specializing in biostatistics, data management, and SAS programming for pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical device industries worldwide. 

The MoU provides the framework for structured cooperation between AUA and NoyMed. In particular, AUA students will have the opportunity to work on two capstone projects per academic year availed by NoyMed. The student or students will be selected based on the requirements set by NoyMed and the students’ interests. To support the academic process, NoyMed will recommend two staff members who will serve as adjunct faculty at AUA and supervise the respective capstone projects. AUA students interested in the bioinformatics track will be able to participate in site visits at NoyMed.

“This is a good start to a very promising collaboration with NoyMed. Strengthening such university-industry ties will allow AUA students to get hands-on experience in solving real-life problems identified by NoyMed. Moreover, students will greatly benefit from having access to NoyMed premises and equipment while working on their capstone projects,” notes Assistant Professor Dr. Habet Madoyan, chair of the AUA Bachelor of Science in Data Science (BSDS) program.

“Closer cooperation of AUA and NoyMed will boost the interest of students and graduates in the biotech industry and help them to launch their career in one of the leading Armenian biometrics CRO. And it can also help them to acquire the right skills and mindsets required on the job market, as well as for their own personal growth,” mentioned Vahagn Melkonyan, CEO of NoyMed CRO.  

AUA and NoyMed have agreed to jointly organize and host health tech events pertinent to the ecosystem. These may include guest lectures at AUA with invited speakers from NoyMed, hackathons, as well as industry gatherings and networking events that would benefit the AUA community, NoyMed, as well as the health tech ecosystem in general. Within the framework of the MoU, AUA will provide NoyMed with a roster containing at least ten resumes of successful AUA students with high potential who may be afforded the unique opportunity to start building their careers in the field of biometrics.
