YEREVAN, Armenia ‒ On June 27, the participants of the four-day Governance and Leadership course of the American University of Armenia (AUA) Extension received their certificates of attendance.

The course was taught by Dr. Frank Vram Zerunyan, Professor of the Practice of Governance at the Sol Price School of Public Policy and Director of Executive Education at University of Southern California (USC) Price Bedrosian Center on Governance. “The most important concept I want to deliver to the participants of the course is that serving our nation is the highest honor. We do not serve a government, we serve the nation and the citizens,” noted Dr. Zerunyan.

“This course improved my knowledge of the subject matter. Most importantly, our instructor was both a public servant and a scientist who was able to combine his knowledge and international experience,” said Gevorg Manukyan, Head of the department of Sport Organizations, Sport Medicine and Scientific-Methodological Works Coordination, RA Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs.

During the training, the participants acquired fundamental knowledge and skills to design, manage, and evaluate programs that have intersectoral dimensions. In addition, they learned how to solve local and national challenges.

“I think, anyone who took part in the course acquired professional knowledge which will contribute to their management style. In particular, I have designed a number of projects to be sequentially implemented in our field,” said Lusine Voskanyan, Deputy Head of the Juridical Department, Ministry of Transport, Communication and Information Technologies.

The course is being offered for the fourth year in a row. In 2015 and 2016 AUA Extension organized it for the RA Ministry of Defence only, but for the previous two years the course has been offered to the representatives of all RA ministries. As Dr. Zerunyan says, this effort will be continuous and he is committed to donating his time, knowledge and energy to teach the course in the upcoming years.
