YEREVAN, Armenia —American University of Armenia (AUA) Extension is pleased to spotlight the ongoing success of the second round of its Introduction to Fashion Design course, currently underway with a group of 16 participants. Following the positive feedback from the inaugural round of this training, Extension announced the second installment in the fundamentals of fashion design.
This hands-on comprehensive six-week course is led by two distinguished experts: Kyung Hwa Kim, a specialist in apparel and knitwear design, and Vicken Derderian, an architect and fashion designer, who together offer a rich depiction of artistic vision, technical knowledge, and industry experience, guiding students through the multifaceted world of fashion design.
Participants are actively engaged in grasping the core elements of fashion design, including illustration techniques, croquis creation, fabric properties, and garment construction. Consequently, they develop conceptual ideas through sketches, mood boards, and fabric swatches. Throughout the course, they analyze current trends and practice collection editing and refinement, producing industry-standard flats to effectively communicate their ideas.
By the end of the course, they will conceptualize and develop a cohesive capsule collection based on a defined theme, target audience, and market trends.
AUA Extension continues to provide training to serve the growing public interest in the creative arts. The next cohort is expected to start in February, giving more students the opportunity to explore fashion design and build practical skills.
