YEREVAN, Armenia — As part of its mission to reach multiple segments of Armenian society, American University of Armenia (AUA) Extension partnered with the Hub Artsakh social and economic development NGO to deliver a two-month Certificate Program in Virtual Assistance. The program’s curriculum is specifically geared toward preparing participants for effective performance in today’s digital business environment. Within that framework, this particular program aimed at upskilling the women forcibly displaced from Artsakh for adapting to the local work environment.
Commissioned and funded by Hub Artsakh, the program was launched in late October 2025 and is currently underway. The syllabus covers essential topics, such as digital literacy and file management; calendar and inbox management; client communication, time and task organization; and the use of artificial intelligence (AI)-powered tools including ChatGPT, Grammarly, and Canva AI. Moreover, all 21 participants are coached in creating their individual professional resumes, making client proposals, preparing for interviews, and acquiring various digital, administrative, and communication skills to help them succeed in their new environment.
“AUA Extension designed this initiative principally to lend a hand to the women forcibly displaced from Artsakh. The program provides them with the practical skills and tools for them to stand tall in their new work environment,” said Dr. Arpie Balian, director of AUA Extension. “Beyond skills training, this training fosters confidence, adaptability, and a renewed sense of purpose that can help them navigate today’s changing job market.”
This AUA Extension and Hub Artsakh collaboration is dedicated to providing inclusive, skills-based education to a special group of displaced women so they may take full advantage of the opportunities that come their way, helping them adapt, continue to grow professionally, and shape their career.
Slatsk is a dynamic initiative aimed at supporting women from Artsakh to become empowered in their new environment, gain in-demand skills, and access sustainable employment opportunities. This round of the Slatsk program is implemented in collaboration with AUA Extension, within the framework of the Empower Path program realized by the Armenian International Women’s Association (AIWA).
AUA Extension is the non-degree arm of the American University of Armenia (AUA), offering certificate programs, courses and workshops especially geared to meeting the educational needs of individuals from diverse backgrounds, occupations, and professional pursuits.
