3 min read

YEREVAN, Armenia — On May 26, AUA Career Services organized the biggest Career Fair ever held at AUA, hosting around 60 employers who presented career opportunities available to AUA alumni and students: over 350 jobs and 120 internships. Following the fair, AUA students and alumni had the chance to attend four workshops on job-hunting tools and strategies useful for students entering the job market. Over 30 students also participated in mock interviews, practicing their interviewing skills with HR specialists and recruiters, to gain more confidence and increase their potential of landing the right job.

Every year, AUA Career Services hosts dozens of Armenian and international companies on campus to provide information on available job and internship opportunities. The event is usually held at the end of May, prior to graduation, to allow AUA students to start focusing on their career options early on.

This year, the University hosted 58 potential employers and attracted over 300 students and alumni to participate. Aiming at engaging as many students as possible in the fair, AUA Career Services made great efforts to attract employers from various fields of industry, including consulting, auditing, insurance, banking, telecommunications, hospitality services, educational and training centers, manufacturing, trade, IT, and credit companies. The AUA HR department also participated in the fair, presenting its current vacancies along with information on the benefits package extended to AUA employees.

Feedback received from the event evaluation survey and opinions shared during the fair indicates that the majority of the participating employers were very satisfied with the event. In their words, “The event was incredible! Well-organized and well-attended.” They found the fair to provide an effective medium for communicating with potential candidates for employment in their companies and the right place for headhunting. Moreover, many of these organizations also commented that the majority of those approaching them possessed the required knowledge and skills, attesting to the overall good quality of AUA students.

The participating organizations were competing to attract the best students with their interactive games, quizzes, prizes, and gifts. AUA students and alumni appraised the Career Fair as the right place for finding a job or internship, or simply for taking the first steps in their career paths. Besides offering employment opportunities, the fair was also a great venue for students to explore the job market, get connected with employers, and create a network of contacts for future career development.

Following the fair, four HR professionals from different companies ran knowledge sessions on diverse topics, such as entering the job market, developing a career strategy, positioning oneself as a potential employee, and understanding the important role of HR in a business. These diverse talks helped students become better aware of many aspects of the job search process.

The closing segment of the event comprised mock interviews with many of the participating employers. This year, AUA Career Services was successful in setting up mock interviews with ACBA Bank, IDBank, Time, Magnus, Optimum Partners, National Instruments, and IAB for students interested in gaining practice. Those students who took part in the interviews stated that the opportunity not only helped them have an overall understanding of the interview process but also learned from the interviewer’s feedback on their communication skills.

The AUA Career Fair 2023 was mutually beneficial for participating students and organizations. It provided students with a great platform for developing their networks and building relations with other job seekers and employers.
