In the fall of 2021, the American University of Armenia (AUA) provided me with the outstanding opportunity to spend a semester at Tallinn University of Technology (TalTech) in Estonia as an exchange student.

TalTech is one of the leading technological universities in Europe and is known for its cutting-edge research and innovative curriculum. The exchange semester allowed me to take advantage of their world-class resources, study alongside talented students from all over the world, and learn from renowned professors in the field.

I studied in a program that focuses on data protection, e-governance, and related subjects. The curriculum was demanding and enriching and provided me with comprehensive insight into the legal intricacies surrounding technology and their effect on society. The classes were led by knowledgeable professors who brought real-world expertise and practice into the classroom. I actively participated in discussions and debates with classmates from diverse backgrounds, thereby enhancing my understanding of the topics covered. The course material was applied, featuring case studies and real-world scenarios that helped me grasp the application of law in real situations.

Estonia is home to many historic landmarks and museums that offer a glimpse into the country’s rich history and heritage. I was particularly impressed by the Tallinn Old Town, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the best-preserved medieval cities in Europe. I also had the chance to sample the local cuisine, characterized by fresh seafood and hearty stews. The local people were welcoming and friendly, and I was struck by the deep sense of community and pride for their own culture. Overall, my time in Estonia was a unique and unforgettable experience, and I would highly recommend visiting the country to anyone looking for a new travel destination.

Studying abroad has changed me professionally in numerous ways. I would like to thank the AUA LL.M. program for this opportunity and TalTech for making this semester an unforgettable and valuable experience.
