YEREVAN, Armenia – On January 21, 2020, the American University of Armenia (AUA) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of the Republic of Armenia (RA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for strengthening institutional cooperation between MFA and the AUA College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHSS). The MoU was signed by Vahagn Melikyan, MFA general secretary, acting on its behalf, and Dr. Brian Ellison, Dean of AUA CHSS. Attending the event hosted by the MFA were Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan, PSIA Program Chair Dr. Vahram Ter-Matevosyan, and several PSIA students.
The purpose of this cooperation is to create opportunities for PSIA students to advance their knowledge, skills, and research potential in projects of the ministry. Thus, several PSIA students will be able to intern at MFA for a one-month period, during which the students will work on research and analysis of topics relevant to the function and activities of the ministry.
Welcoming the AUA group at MFA, Minister Mnatsakanyan highlighted the importance of such meetings that give young specialists the opportunity to get involved in various foreign policy issues. In his remarks, the Minister underscored the role AUA plays in promoting global education in Armenia.
“Empowering experience of engaging in dialogue with educated, inquisitive and confident youth of #Armenia with admirable qualities of critical thinking. …” tweeted Minister Mnatsakanyan right after the event.
