Hovhannes Avoyan (M PSIA ’95) Appointed AUAC Trustee

YEREVAN, Armenia – The American University of Armenia (AUA) is pleased to announce that Chief Executive Officer and Founder of PicsArt Inc., AUA alumnus Hovhannes Avoyan (M PSIA ’95) was appointed as AUA Corporation Trustee by the Board of Trustees for a four-year term ending in November, 2023.

Avoyan is a successful serial entrepreneur and startup investor. Throughout his business career he has founded several companies. PicsArt, the sixth company he founded, is a safe online platform where creative people can share their artwork, collaborate, and generate new ideas. Currently, PicsArt is a leading social photo editing mobile app that has more than 600 million downloads and 130 million active users.

In 2016, Avoyan received the first AUA Distinguished Alumni Award in honor and recognition of his outstanding professional achievements, service to society, and support to the University.

He occasionally visits AUA and meets with students motivating and encouraging them to develop their startup ventures. Earlier this year, Avoyan took part in a panel discussion during a fundraising and awareness raising event in Hidden Hills, CA, in support of AUA’s “Yes Armenian Women Can!” campaign.

One of the 100 Pillars of AUA, a member of the advisory board of the Akian College of Science and Engineering, and a former lecturer in that College, Avoyan always finds ways to dedicate his time and effort to the growth of his alma mater.
