Cambridge Assessment English Workshop Held by the Center for Research in Applied Linguistics at AUA

YEREVAN, Armenia – On April 19, 2019, the EEC Afterschool English Program of the Center for Research in Applied Linguistics (CRAL),  the American University of Armenia (AUA), in cooperation with Cambridge Assessment English Center, Moscow Chapter, organized a Teacher Development Workshop for teachers from different educational institutions of Armenia. The workshop was delivered by Claire Barnes, who has been working as a teacher and teacher trainer for over thirty years.

“This event was a wonderful chance for me as an organizer to gather together like-minded professionals from different educational institutions and create new networking opportunities for them,” remarked EEC Instructor Anna Bayburdyan, one of the organizers of the workshop.

The topics of the sessions were “Introduction to Speaking Assessment” and “Assessing Students at B1 Level.” The workshop had three main goals: to increase awareness and understanding of the factors teachers should consider while assessing speaking skills, discuss the principles behind speaking test designs, and equip teachers with practical tools to assess speaking abilities.

Lilit Arshakyan, one of the workshop participants, described the event as very useful and smoothly organized. “This was a fruitful and knowledgeable day for me,” she added.
