Internship for Master Students of State Pedagogical University at AGBU Papazian Library
2 min readYEREVAN, Armenia – From April 15th through May 4th, 2016, the American University of Armenia (AUA)’s AGBU Papazian Library hosted 3 Master degree students from Armenian State Pedagogical University’s Department of Museum, Library and Bibliography Studies after KH. Abovyan for an internship. In 2013, an agreement was signed between AUA and State Pedagogical University to host 2nd year MA in Library Science students for a 3-week practice at the AUA AGBU Papazian Library.
At the AGBU Papazian Library, the interns were granted the opportunity to gain practical knowledge and skills, as well as valuable work experience for their resumes, specifically in their field of study by learning from working professionals about Library’s electronic catalog and creating MARC bibliographic records, OCLC search strategies, OCLC WorldShare ILL/DDS (Interlibrary loan. document delivery) services, library’s e- resources and e-services, and productive collaboration with local and international library communities.
The interns were very much impressed by presentations on “AUA digital library” professionally conducted by Hovhannes Kizoghyan, Technical Director of AUA Digital Library of Classical Armenian Literature Project, as well as presentations on “Copyright basics and related issues in libraries”, “What is information literacy” , “How to make presentations” conducted by Hasmik Galstyan.
