YEREVAN, Armenia – On June 25, 2015, the American University of Armenia (AUA) hosted Richard Ohanian for a talk on “Space, Robots, and Us: New Avenues of Armenia-Diaspora Cooperation in Engineering.” The event was hosted by the AUA Yerevan Alumni Club.

Mr. Ohanian gave an overview of the Robotics Academy at Glendale Community College (GCC), as well as discussed the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), the leading U.S. center for robotic exploration of the solar system. One important topic that was discussed was the idea of creating a peer to peer network between Armenia and Diaspora engineers and scientists, as well as the need for establishing Maker/Hacker-spaces in Armenia.

Richard Ohanian is a NASA JPL Engineer and an adjunct faculty of Robotics and Electronics at Glendale Community College, where he has helped establishing GCC’s Robotics Academy and developed/taught courses in Electronics and Robotics. He is also the founder of Ohaniom Enterprises LLC (2015) and ArmEngine (2004). Mr. Ohanian is a fellow member at Policy Forum Armenia and a council member at Armenian Engineers and Scientists of America. He is currently conducting a workshop on robotics at Tumo.
