WASHINGTON, DC – The American University of Armenia (AUA) is proud to share that the alumni community in Washington, DC has recently established the first AUA Alumni Club outside of Armenia.

Anna Hakobyan, the leader of the club, stated, “The goal of our alumni club is to develop, coordinate, and promote programs for our alumni in the DC area and to keep AUA alumni connected and involved with AUA and with one another. We aim at making this club a great place to network and reconnect with old friends and colleagues through social outings and community events for alumni.”

The Washington, DC Alumni Club will hold its first gathering during the National Commemoration of the Armenian Genocide Centennial from May 7-9, where AUA will host a table to present its programs and will have a presentation on its study abroad program.

The university hopes the creation of this new club will inspire other alumni communities around the globe to launch their own chapters.

Founded in 1991, the American University of Armenia (AUA) is a private, independent university located in Yerevan, Armenia and affiliated with the University of California. AUA provides a global education in Armenia and the region, offering high-quality, graduate and undergraduate studies, encouraging civic engagement, and promoting public service and democratic values.
