YEREVAN, Armenia – On March 31, 2015, the American University of Armenia (AUA) Graduate Student Council, in cooperation with the Armenian Bone Marrow Donor Registry Charitable Trust (ABMDR) held a blood drive in AUA’s Agbabian Hall. The blood drive was preceded by a short presentation by ABMDR.

The blood drive was a great success, with many students, faculty, and staff donating their blood to a good cause. AUA President Armen Der Kiureghian, Director of Admissions Arina Zohrabian, CFO Gevorg Goyunyan, and many more participated in the event.

The ABMDR was founded in 1999 as an independent, non-governmental, not-for-profit organization, with a mission to ensure that every ethnic Armenian struck with a life threatening blood-related illness is able to find hope for long-term survival through the identification of a genetically compatible bone marrow match.

The ABMDR is a member of the World Marrow Donor Association (WMDA) and Bone Marrow Donor Worldwide (BMDW) sharing its database information with other registries around the world. In January 2008, ABMDR became a member of National Marrow Donor Program – NMDP.

Founded in 1991, the American University of Armenia (AUA) is a private, independent university located in Yerevan, Armenia and affiliated with the University of California. AUA provides a global education in Armenia and the region, offering high-quality, graduate and undergraduate studies, encouraging civic engagement, and promoting public service and democratic values.
