Public Seminar Discusses Investments in Energy Efficiency

YEREVAN, Armenia – On March 18, the American University of Armenia (AUA) College of Science & Engineering, along with AUA’s Acopian Center for the Environment, held a public seminar on ‘Financing Energy Efficiency in Buildings: Market-Based Instruments and Mechanisms’ with speaker Astghine Pasoyan.

The lecture examined various types of financing mechanisms and instruments appropriate for energy-efficiency investments in buildings. Ms. Pasoyan emphasized the importance of market-based solutions and their ability to mobilize large-scale change. She also provided several examples of successful financing mechanisms in operation today throughout the world.

Ms. Pasoyan is an expert in energy efficiency (EE) with 20 years of experience in Southeast European and CIS countries. Over the past decade, she has managed EE planning and legal reform efforts, market assessments, development of financing schemes for building EE investments, and more. Since 2003, she has been leading a grassroots effort to support energy efficiency and energy planning on residential and municipal levels through the Foundation to Save Energy NGO. She has taught courses on renewable energy and energy efficiency at the Agribusiness Training Center in Armenia. She holds a Master’s in Environmental Economics from Brown University.
