The Cloud – Past, Present and Emerging Trends

About the Event:
The focus of the talk will be the history of cloud computing, application development in the cloud, and emerging trends which present new opportunities. The talk will cover many topics at an introductory level. Topics include virtualization, containerization, software as a service (SaaS), agile development, microservices, networking, systems administration, DevOps, and security.
About the Speakers:
Aries Youssefian is a cloud technologist with Stratoscale, a cloud startup, and he is based out of Toronto, Canada. He has over 10 years of experience working in IT, and holds a Bachelors of Information Technology from the University of Ontario Institute of Technology. He is a past entrepreneur, and has worked for Dell, VMware, and Tesora, an OpenStack startup.
Peter Boone (Minassian) is a self-employed IT security specialist. He has over 15 years IT industry experience including two major Canadian telecom companies and VMware. Peter holds a Bachelor of Applied Information Science in Information Systems Security, and currently runs his own company, Secure Information Systems. Peter will be discussing ZFS and the shortfalls of modern filesystems, primarily addressing the Integrity and Availability elements of security from an angle that is rarely considered, and how insufficient data integrity can have disastrous effects.
